Paul R. Williams was an American architect based in Los Angeles. In a career spanning almost six decades, Williams designed more than 3,000 structures and mastered a range of architectural styles. Most of the buildings he designed were in Southern California and included the homes of numerous celebrities. He also designed many commercial, institutional and civic buildings.
He broke racial barriers, becoming the first African American member (and later, Fellow) of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), as well as a civic leader.
